What was the challenge?

The homeowners decided to renovate their kitchen to better fit their lifestyle as a young couple in the entertainment industry, where hosting events is a frequent occurrence. A central feature of their renovation is the addition of a large island that serves as both a social hub and a functional workspace. They also wanted more storage, improved lighting, and additional electrical outlets to accommodate their modern needs. By concealing appliances, they aimed for a sleek, uncluttered look. Ultimately, this renovation not only enhances their daily living experience and entertaining capabilities but also significantly increases the property’s overall value.

What was delivered?

The redesigned kitchen features an open layout with a large island perfect for entertainment and preparing food for children, complemented by plenty of storage, hidden LED lighting, a relocated chandelier, and pop-out counter plugs. The property value has increased for future rental opportunities due to the use of durable, easy-to-clean, allergen-reducing materials, dark wood with light countertops, integrated appliances, waterproof vinyl flooring, and eco-friendly countertops. Internal drawers and millwork accessories, such as lazy Susans, spice racks, and recycle bins, enhance both aesthetics and functionality, while push-open upper millwork and fingerprint-resistant finishes provide a clean look. Updated appliances and insulation boost energy efficiency, and eco-friendly materials, non-toxic adhesives, and sealants improve air quality and natural light. Smart home features, energy-efficient LED lighting, and water-saving fixtures are integrated, with spaces prioritized for meditation and mindfulness. An instant-hot-water faucet allows for quicker cooking. The open kitchen connects seamlessly with the dining, living room, and balcony areas, with a ceiling-height pantry offering additional storage. Despite budget constraints, the use of a local millwork company and budget-friendly appliances and fixtures, along with the hiring of a structural engineer for electrical wiring, ensured the successful redesign focused on functionality and utility.
