This week, the RenoMark program celebrates its 20th anniversary of ethics in home renovations. The program was founded by like-minded renovators of Toronto’s Building Industry Land Development (BILD) in 2001 to represent professionalism and integrity in the home renovation industry. Today, RenoMark has grown into a nationwide program delivered by the Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA), with over 1,000 RenoMark members in more than 40 communities in nine provinces.
Developed in response to a rampant underground economy in the home repair and renovation industry at the time, the RenoMark program aims to raise the bar in quality, ethics, and transparency of renovators across the country, while educating and equipping homeowners with the tools to identify professional contractors who have committed to the program’s requirements. To use the RenoMark trademark, contractors must agree to abide by a renovation-specific code of ethics from their administering local or provincial homebuilders’ association.
