What was the challenge?

The homeowners decided to renovate their kitchen by doubling its size to accommodate the needs of their active family of five. With a bustling household, they recognized the importance of having a spacious and functional kitchen that could serve as the heart of their home. By incorporating a large island, they created a central hub for meal preparation and casual family gatherings. Additionally, the new dining and entertaining stations were designed to enhance their ability to host friends and family, providing ample space for socializing and enjoying meals together. This renovation reflects their desire to create a welcoming and efficient environment that caters to their dynamic lifestyle.

What was delivered?

The newly renovated kitchen and dining area significantly expanded both the size and storage capacity, while providing a warm Tuscan ambiance with an authentic Italian feel through a natural stone backsplash. The homeowner’s complete wish list was fulfilled, featuring an 8-foot island, a coffee bar and beverage station, dual pantries, an appliance cabinet, baking pullout, and a microwave with floating shelves to display their beautiful Italian whiteware. The unique design extended the kitchen into a new dining area and lounge, converted from the old office space, creating a seamless flow for family and guests. Color tones and new flooring were integrated to harmonize with the rest of the home, and comfort was enhanced by replacing the wood-burning fireplace with a gas option, leading to a cozy fireside lounge perfect for enjoying morning coffees or evening aperitifs with a garden view. To boost energy efficiency, the renovation included installing rockwool insulation, sealing openings, adding LED lighting, and incorporating 5-star energy-efficient appliances and triple pane argon windows, despite challenges posed by the uneven depth of the natural stone during millwork and window box installations.
