What was the challenge?

These homeowners sought modest main-floor changes that would improve functionality, update design to their taste and respect character of the home.

What was delivered?

This home renovation maximized available space within the confines of each room. The kitchen and dining room were seamlessly integrated by removing a dividing wall, enlarging the kitchen while maintaining a dedicated dining space. An awkward powder room was transformed into a full-height pantry and appliance stack, optimizing efficiency.

The dining area now features a butcher block serving space and vibrant wallpaper, seamlessly blending with the kitchen’s mid-century modern aesthetic. The kitchen itself boasts a spacious island for casual dining and entertaining, showcasing green and white painted shaker cabinets, gold accents, and contrasting textures.

Responding to the client’s needs, the design seamlessly integrates a bar area into the dining space and incorporates the island as a multifunctional hub. The mudroom, doubling as a landing space, mirrors the kitchen’s color palette and offers custom storage solutions.

Externally, the architectural integrity remains untouched, while internally, the home now reflects the homeowner’s graphic design sensibilities. Unique touches abound, from the updated fireplace surround, to the carefully maintained stucco crown, to the thoughtfully chosen art deco jaguar wallpaper. Despite challenges like rerouting services in an older home, the renovation preserves the home’s historical charm, showcasing a meticulous blend of creativity and functionality.
