What was the challenge?

After months of searching, this busy family of five, including a new baby, finally found their dream location. They needed a bigger home to accommodate their growing family, and after seeing several properties, they finally found the perfect one. With two young children and a newborn, having a home that was both functional, comfortable and energy efficient was a top priority.

What was delivered?

This home underwent a complete transformation, both structurally and visually. To connect the present home to its past, the large Katsura tree was kept in the front yard. The front façade of the house is outstanding, with tall, oversized windows that let in plenty of natural light. The garage was positioned in a functional, unobtrusive way. The old deck was pushed out to make a larger kitchen, which is now perfect for family gatherings and entertaining. The backyard was transformed into a flat, perfect play area for the family’s three growing boys. The spacious covered deck is useable year-round, and a curved archway adds a touch of softness to the home’s modern look. Open shelving and cabinetry bookend the fireplace, which is both engaging and practical. A T-&-G ceiling was added for a Westcoast look, and a grey, glossy subway tile backsplash was installed to reflect light. Finally, a beautiful black, slender open-framed light fixture can be seen over the dining area, kitchen island, and in the front entrance, tying the whole home together.
