What was the challenge?

This young couple desired a home that could blend style and function while providing ample space for their growing family. To live comfortably in a coveted neighborhood, they included a legal suite to assist with their mortgage. They aimed to retain the existing craftsman aesthetic while incorporating more modern elements for a clean and functional look

What was delivered?

This property is a celebration of the existing craftsman style, with an exterior design that features a pitched roof and traditional porch. The bright yellow wood door pops against the blue wood siding, and a white picket fence caps off the charming look. The backyard has been revamped to provide ample space for entertaining and kids to play.

Inside, the craftsmen style is captured in the design, but with clean modern elements. The main living area is open concept for ease of flow, and includes a playroom that can be modified as kids grow. The upper floor has a loft space with high ceilings, which houses the primary bedroom/ensuite and a kid’s room/bathroom.

Innovative storage solutions include a custom closet at the entrance and a room dedicated to the pantry. The home is equipped with an HRV system for clean and healthy air quality, as well as a high efficiency combination boiler for domestic hot water and heating. The entire home has been brought up to code, and the overall air tightness of the home has been drastically improved. This ensures that air leakage is not an issue, and indoor air quality can be controlled more effectively.
