What was the challenge?
The primary motivation for the renovation was to transform the existing kitchen into a spacious, eat-in area that boasts a hidden breakfast bar, a large island, and a built-in servery, all crafted with timeless, durable finishes. The homeowners aspired to create brighter, open-concept living spaces that seamlessly integrate the kitchen and dining areas. This renovation aimed to enhance the home’s functionality and aesthetic appeal by creating a modern, yet classic, feel that would stand the test of time.
What was delivered?
The project involved a complete overhaul of the interior, starting with closing in a stairwell and reconfiguring the layout to maximize space and improve the home’s overall flow. The new kitchen became the centerpiece, positioned between the dining and living rooms, featuring a large island at its core. A striking 4-panel patio door with a white oak interior frame was installed to establish a strong connection with the outdoor rear yard, flooding the space with natural light. To maintain a timeless elegance, the design utilized natural rift-cut walnut cabinetry, off-white marble-like quartz countertops, and natural white oak floors, complemented by brass hardware and decorative sconces. The renovation not only upgraded mechanical systems and insulation for enhanced efficiency and comfort but also created a warm, earthy ambiance with a harmonious blend of materials, making the kitchen a functional and beautiful heart of the home.
