Farmhouse Charm with Contemporary Class

What was the challenge?

This farmhouse in London, Ontario, had been in the family for more than 70 years, making it a true legacy home. Selling was never considered—rather, the owners wanted to transform the property so it could thrive for future generations. Like many homes of its era, the layout was divided into small, closed-off rooms, which no longer suited the family’s lifestyle. Their vision was to create a functional, open, and welcoming space that honoured the home’s history while adapting it for modern living and family gatherings.

What was delivered?

The renovation focused on opening up the floor plan by removing select walls, creating sightlines that connected the kitchen and dining areas. A large island with seating became the new hub of the home, ideal for cooking, conversation, and entertaining. Custom cabinetry in Chantilly Lace and Iron Ore added both storage and striking contrast, while features like a repurposed milk door, refinished entry doors, and replicated trim preserved the home’s character. Warmth was brought in through new hardwood flooring, floating shelves, and wood accents, blending seamlessly with refinished original elements. The result is a modern farmhouse that retains its timeless charm while offering comfort, functionality, and space for new memories to be made for generations to come.
