What was the challenge?

The homeowners’ decision to renovate before moving into their new McKenzie Lake residence was driven by a desire to transform the house into their dream home. Having long admired the serene beauty and vibrant community of McKenzie Lake, they saw this as an opportunity to not only secure a property in a coveted location but also to tailor it to their specific tastes and lifestyle needs. By renovating before moving in, they could ensure the space reflected their personal style, making it both functional and aesthetically pleasing. This pre-move renovation allowed them to address any necessary updates or improvements without the disruption of living in a construction zone. Ultimately, this proactive approach enabled them to step into a home that was not only in the ideal neighborhood but was also perfectly aligned with their vision of comfort and beauty.

What was delivered?

The renovation transformed the homeowners’ dream into reality, allowing them to enjoy their perfect home in McKenzie Lake, with a stunning view of Fish Creek Park. Prior to moving in, they embarked on a renovation journey to tailor the space to their needs and preferences. This involved creating an open-concept main floor by removing a central fireplace, reorienting the kitchen island to enhance the dining area, and converting the formal dining room into an office. They also developed a functional mudroom/laundry area from the garage entrance, added a spacious butler’s pantry for improved storage, and redesigned the master ensuite to include a large shower and freestanding bathtub. The basement was transformed into a versatile space with a movie room, gym, and an updated wet bar. These changes, along with a refreshed color palette, met the homeowners’ desires for a cohesive and appealing design. The kitchen’s combination of white lacquer, stained wood, and patterned tiles created an inviting atmosphere, while the butler’s pantry and laundry room featured sage green elements for a lively touch. The master ensuite was brightened with light cabinetry and artisan tiles, and the basement’s functional design ensured a perfect setting for family activities. Overall, the renovation harmonized cost-effective finishes with the homeowners’ vision, resulting in a beautifully tailored living space.
