What was the challenge?
The homeowner envisioned an open-concept kitchen that seamlessly blends functionality and style, featuring built-in kitchen utility accessories, a spacious butler’s pantry, and a large island designed as the perfect centerpiece for family gatherings.
What was delivered?
The open-concept kitchen, featuring a butler’s pantry and a spacious island, is designed for entertaining and family gatherings. A captivating 3D-effect built-in hood fan serves as the focal point, balancing functionality and aesthetics. The main cabinets and crown are crafted from wood-look horizontal grain laminate, harmonizing with the floor tone to achieve a Westcoast-Zen ambiance. The 12-foot charcoal island boasts a book-matched grey veining quartz countertop, and the backsplash features various hand-pressed white tiles in a vertical layout. Kitchen storage and functionality are enhanced with a pull-out pantry, corner unit, recycling and garbage center, pull-outs for cutting boards and spices, and a warming drawer. The butler’s pantry, equipped with white cabinets, wood-look laminate crown, and floating shelves, maintains unity with the main kitchen. Sustainability is prioritized with EnerGuide appliances, durable quartz countertops, energy-efficient LED lighting, water-efficient fixtures, and low-VOC paint on cabinets.
The 12-foot kitchen island maximizes storage and accommodates large gatherings, while the butler’s pantry, situated in the former dining room, connects to the deck for BBQ convenience. The dining area has been relocated to the former family room, now accompanied by a new den/office. The kitchen seamlessly transitions into the butler’s pantry with a coffee station, microwave cubby, freezer column, additional dishwasher, and beverage fridge. Through collaboration with an engineer, the kitchen wall was opened to the living room, requiring the installation of a longer support beam. Despite the clients residing abroad, excellence was achieved through consistent communication via software and regular video calls for progress updates.
