Best Kitchen Renovation – Over $100,000 – 2022 CHBA National Awards for Housing Excellence
The client was looking for a very large entertaining kitchen to accommodate her large family. The previous layout had the family separated between two dining rooms when together. By adding an addition to the rear of the home and removing the wall separating in the dining room, there was room for two islands, oversized appliances, and a large dining table that is more separated from the host.
The challenges were plentiful on this job, including a lengthy permit process that required a grandfathering for an eave on the front of the home, COVID material delays and consistent price increases on materials and labor.
This new contemporary kitchen offers clean lines and a place to cook while not being secluded from the company. Every food prep and entertaining scenario was planned out, from the large fridge, pot filler, and double ovens, all the way to the separated “bar” and island for drink mixing and appetizers. Earthy wood elements give this design texture so it doesn’t feel sterile. Black, white and gold accents were used throughout the design to achieve that refined modern look.
