What was the challenge?

The clients desired to transform their outdated and inefficient traditional kitchen into a sleek and cozy space with a “Modern Gallery” theme. It was crucial to incorporate Feng Shui principles to ensure a harmonious and balanced environment that would enhance both functionality and aesthetic appeal.

What was delivered?

The clients desired a sleek and cozy “Modern Gallery” theme, incorporating Feng Shui principles into their home. The floor plan was reimagined to modernize the interior while ensuring the home met all necessary codes. Warm oak, wide-plank hardwood flooring was installed diagonally, complemented by two-tone, flat-slab laminate-veneer cabinetry featuring a light oak-wood finish with organic horizontal grain.

A striking “Midnight-Black” nook with perimeter wall-pantries added a unique touch, while a distinctive oval nook connected to the island appeared to float. The easy-to-maintain laminate-veneer surfaces showed no fingerprints, thanks to meticulous mitered edges and hidden magnetic hardware for a clean look. The matte “Airy-Concrete” quartz countertop and backsplash extended to full ceiling height, creating a minimalist aesthetic that was easy to clean. A supersized concrete-gray granite kitchen sink reflected the wall tiles, paired with an induction cook-top, stainless-steel hood fan, and satin-nickel pot-filler. Black-framed windows without mullions, dimmable LED pot-lights, and matte-black track lighting enhanced the sleek design. Double-paned high-efficiency aluminum windows, along with Gaggenau and Miele energy-efficient appliances, were installed.

The floor plan was completely reconfigured, adding an oversized island with efficient drawers, a unique oval nook for intimate gatherings, and two full floor-to-ceiling pantry walls for abundant storage. By eliminating upper cabinets, the backyard view was accentuated. The kitchen included an integrated fridge/freezer, built-in steam and convection oven, and a coffeemaker, all housed in a sleek hidden appliance garage. The family room was removed to create a new dining room that opens to the kitchen for efficient food service. The laundry room was relocated to the basement, creating space for a fully equipped wok kitchen.
