What was the challenge?

The homeowner’s decision to renovate the kitchen was driven by a desire to transform it into a more open, functional, and inviting space, conducive to entertaining and enhancing the overall ambiance of the home. They aimed to improve the kitchen’s functionality and create a brighter atmosphere that would seamlessly integrate with the rest of the living space. By addressing these goals, the renovation sought to open up the kitchen area, ensuring it became a central hub for gatherings while maintaining its connection to the adjoining living room.

What was delivered?

The renovation involved several key projects, beginning with the removal of a central load-bearing wall, which opened up the space while an engineer-designed beam preserved the structural integrity. The focal point of the new design is a rich quartz waterfall island, which offers ample seating and serves as the centerpiece of the room. A curved arched entrance adds elegance, while high-quality LVP flooring installed at an angle enhances texture and lightness. Thoughtful lighting solutions, including LED pot lights, strip lights, and a sola tube, ensure the kitchen remains bright and welcoming. Despite the removal of three windows, the design maximizes natural light through large front-facing windows, maintaining an open-concept feel. The integration of a cozy breakfast nook complements the island seating, making efficient use of space while providing a functional flow for both entertaining and family meals.
