What was the challenge?
The homeowners wanted to replace their small, outdated kitchen with a spacious, modern showpiece that better reflected their lifestyle. Their existing layout felt cramped and disconnected from the rest of the home, making it unsuitable for a growing family who enjoys hosting. They envisioned a reimagined footprint anchored by luxurious walnut-inspired cabinetry and an open-concept design that would create a stronger visual and functional connection across the main floor.
What was delivered?
To achieve this vision, the renovation focused on dramatically expanding the kitchen’s footprint—by over 50%—through the removal of a central wall, creating a bright, open-concept layout. Durability was a top priority for the homeowners, who have two young children, so TFL cabinetry was selected for its resilience and realistic wood appearance, along with highly durable LVP flooring installed throughout the main floor for a cohesive finish. The design introduced a multifunctional island featuring a custom built-in banquette bench, allowing for both casual seating and family meals while maximizing space and backyard views. Additional upgrades included full-height tile backsplashes, energy-efficient LED lighting, upgraded insulation, and the replacement of Poly B plumbing. Creative solutions, such as retaining and integrating the existing dining room cantilever and accommodating electrical code requirements for enclosed cabinetry, ensured both functionality and future flexibility—all while maintaining the home’s exterior unchanged.
