What was the challenge?

A young couple with a new baby purchased this North Vancouver home and wanted a complete refresh to suit their growing family. Their vision was a bright, modern, open-concept layout that would improve functionality, create better sightlines, and make everyday living and entertaining easier. The outdated, disjointed floor plan didn’t meet their needs, so the goal was to transform the space into a warm, inviting environment that blended style with practicality.

What was delivered?

The renovation began with a bold exterior update featuring fresh paint, black-trimmed windows, and a modern entry door. Inside, load-bearing walls were removed to open the kitchen, dining, and living areas, while the original tongue-and-groove cedar ceiling—a key client request—was retained and refinished. The kitchen footprint was extended into an L-shape with an oversized island seating five, complemented by bright white cabinetry, contrasting black accents, quartz countertops, and an iridescent backsplash. Expansive sliding doors and new windows connect the interior to a multi-level deck for seamless indoor-outdoor living. Warm white-oak flooring flows throughout, paired with updated stair railings, modern lighting, and two reimagined fireplaces for cozy family spaces. Energy-efficient upgrades, including triple-glazed windows, a heat pump, LED lighting, and high-performance appliances, ensure comfort and sustainability. The result is a stunning modern masterpiece that perfectly balances aesthetics, functionality, and family-friendly design.
