Modern Sexy Loft

What was the challenge?

This young client wanted a modern, sexy loft that would stand up to any luxury hotel retreat. Location was key as they also wanted an inner-city lifestyle on a lot with mature trees. A bungalow design allowed them to create a private courtyard backyard. The garage was renovated as its location was grandfathered on the property line. Tearing it down and re-building would have lost 4′ of the backyard. Instead, they redesigned the structure with a flat roof to complement the house.

What was delivered?

Built on a corner lot, Maison Design+Build took full advantage of the west and south exposures with floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room. To keep privacy in the home, while allowing maximum light in, they created a patio with a concrete grade beam as well as site fencing to develop a completely enclosed courtyard.

The standout features include the chef’s kitchen with a rugged quartz countertop, a gorgeous master ensuite with a double shower, and the basement gym lounge area with polished concrete floors, exposed brick pillars, and an oak waterfall staircase. The space is warm, full of light, and has just enough texture and contrast to invoke that lofty feeling.
