What was the challenge?
This detached home was purchased by a newly wed couple. Customizing the space to the homeowner’s lifestyle while keeping the shell of the home was their main goal.
During demolition they saw the opportunity to raise the roof. The headers of the roof had to be changed to be structurally safe and approved. They also had to ensure proper insulation of the new roof. As this was not part of the original scope, they provided a 3D rendering and detailed budget analysis to the client so they can make this decision alongside the team to create a unique space.
What was delivered?
This sleek and stylish home now offers a one of a kind entry way that integrates into the kitchen space with a continuous millwork design. The tall cabinets are also used to exaggerate the height that was found in the attic space.
While the exterior remains unchanged, the large windows and patio sliding door were changed to bring more natural light and to add to the open-ness of the space.
The lower level was turned into a functional family room space with a fireplace and sliding doors that exit
into the outdoor patio. A sophisticated bar, unique all black office alongside and new powder room and a dog wash station truly customize the lower level for the clients’ needs. While keeping the integrity of the original brick walls from 80 years ago, the basement space was left open with no demising walls to allow for flexibility of use. They also included a new laundry room and mechanical room for ease of client. Within all four levels of the house, Pionova managed to create unique and functional spaces for the client’s everyday lifestyle.
