What was the Challenge?

The homeowner disliked the poor builder grade finishes in their penthouse condo. The overall quality of the existing kitchen was deteriorating fast. It was time to gut the space and upgrade for some modern finishes. As this is a condo unit, rearranging the floor plan was difficult as the plumbing locations had to remain in the same places,
therefore, the overall floorplan had minimal changes.

What was Delivered?

The homeowner wanted the feature in this kitchen to be the custom, curved walnut peninsula with matching curved walnut soffit above for a dramatic affect. This peninsula and soffit were designed to be a statement piece but also to be fully functional. The peninsular has cabinets on both sides as well as at the curved end, maximizing storage space. the cook top, extract fan and sink are housed in it. They encased both the peninsula and soffit with LED lights and used white floor to ceiling cabinets as a back drop and dark grey, large format tiles at the other end to frame and highlight the peninsula. The floor to ceiling white cabinets have an open end bookshelf for decor and storage. The walls were painted a soft white and the floors are light oak engineered hardwood. Energy efficient appliances were installed. All in all, the renovated kitchen now feels more open and bright. The use of curved walnut and LED lights creates a modern, luxurious feel.
