What was the challenge?

The homeowners had long envisioned transforming their dated exterior into a true outdoor oasis, a space that would match the potential they always knew their property held. They wanted a retreat that could serve as both a place to unwind and a hub for gathering with family and friends. The existing outdoor space, however, was tired, underwhelming, and lacked both function and charm. Poor connections between the home and yard further limited its usability, leaving the exterior far behind the comfort and style of the home’s interior. Their goal was to reimagine the space into something extraordinary—an outdoor living environment that blended relaxation, entertainment, and lasting beauty.

What was delivered?

The completed renovation delivered on this vision with a thoughtfully designed “outdoor living room” that balances functionality and aesthetics. A stunning timber-framed pavilion became the focal point, complete with its own outdoor kitchen, dining area, fireplace lounge, shower, washroom, and integrated AV system. The home’s exterior facade underwent substantial upgrades, including a new walkout deck, a flat roof addition with balcony access from the second story, and a 14-foot European lift-and-slide door that seamlessly connects the interior basement lounge to the backyard. Throughout the landscape, secondary spaces offer opportunities for poolside fun, quiet relaxation, and cozy evenings by the fire. Traditional elements like brickwork and natural stone masonry were respected and enhanced with modern touches such as PVC decking, sleek fire features, and advanced lighting. The result is a backyard retreat that feels both timeless and contemporary, equally appealing to multiple generations while bringing new life and purpose to the property.
