What was the challenge?

The homeowners wanted to transform their 1990s log home to better suit their growing family and create an inviting space for entertaining. Their goals included adding an extra bedroom, opening up the floor plan for a more functional kitchen and living area, and improving overall flow and storage. They envisioned a home that retained its cozy log character while introducing modern design elements and practical upgrades.

What was delivered?

This renovation reimagined the log home with an open-concept kitchen relocated to a larger space, featuring a grand island, hidden wrap-around pantry, and elegant maple detailing on a tapered hood fan. A new bedroom was added, the bathroom layout was improved for better functionality, and mudrooms were redesigned for everyday practicality. Unique features include cabinetry scribed into the logs for a seamless look, polished nickel fixtures, and pot lights integrated into existing beams. The project also involved extensive chinking and sanding to refresh the logs, installing new and retrofitted windows for energy efficiency, and overcoming challenges like cutting precise openings in log walls and working around in-floor heating. The result is a warm, elevated log home that blends rustic charm with modern sophistication.
