What was the Challenge?

Recently moved from California and anticipating a baby, these homeowners aimed to revamp their newly acquired townhouse into a brighter, more practical area. The main objectives of the renovation were to eliminate the dimness in the space and establish an effective layout with enhanced storage. With a tight timeline because of their upcoming relocation and expanding family, the renovation had to be quick and significant.

What was Delivered?

To address the darkness, the staircase railings were replaced with glass panels, allowing natural light from the skylights to illuminate all three levels of the townhouse. This change not only brightened the space but also created an airy, modern aesthetic. The existing kitchen, which was previously closed off and burdened with dark fixtures, was opened up by removing the wall that separated it from the living area. This created a cohesive flow through the third floor, making the space more suitable for entertaining and daily living.

Functionality was enhanced by adding open shelving and an integrated pantry for increased storage in the kitchen. A custom banquette was installed to establish a dedicated dining space that maintained the open flow between the living room and kitchen. In the principal suite, the layout was reconfigured by swapping the locations of the ensuite and the closets, eliminating dark corners and creating room for a walk-in closet. Additional storage solutions were implemented in the den with custom shelves and cabinets. To improve climate control, an AC unit with a heat pump was installed, ensuring efficient airflow throughout the townhouse. The result was a bright, open, and highly functional home that perfectly met the needs of the growing family.
