What was the challenge?

Transform 1,700-square-foot, 1970s penthouse into forever home for active downsizers who want sleek, contemporary
aesthetic with subtle, traditional references. The main focus of this renovation was too focus on a single-level, aging-in-place-friendly design that provides a sunny, bright space and maximizes ocean views.

What was delivered?

This condo revamp now offers a functional footprint and a modern design. The Master-suite’s solarium was converted into a reading-room with built-in bench (originally concrete retaining-wall). The ensuite’s tub was replaced by a frameless-glass, walk-in shower with accessories-niche and tile surround. A dual-sink vanity with
backlit circular mirrors was also added, as well as toe-kick lighting, and single-slab quartz counters. Green-glass accent strip (herring-bone pattern) adds a visual pop.

In the Livingroom, the wood-burning, two-sided fireplace was retained. The vent was brought to code and a marble-inspired porcelain title was added giving it a new modern flair. Easy-care, white-oak engineered-wood flooring was added throughout giving the penthouse visual warmth and contemporary ambiance.

The kitchen now offers state-of-the-art appliances (including Smart Fridge and induction range with chimney-style hood-fan) that appeal to the owners who still want to host large-scale family gatherings. New LED toe-kick and under-cabinet lighting create a bright and airy culinary hub. The single-slab porcelain backsplash enhances the minimalist aesthetic and makes for easy clean up. To top it off, all cabinets/drawers have motion-activated, interior lighting for easy to see contents no matter the time of day.
